Study Science and Technology Abroad
Study Science and Technology Abroad - how Elab can get you started
Science and Technology Abroad Programme supports students who enjoy studying subjects such as maths, physics and chemistry at school and wish to take undergraduate courses in the fields of:
- Computer Sciences,
- Biological Sciences,
- Engineering and Technology,
- Physical Sciences.
Science and Technology Abroad - Popular career choices for graduates include:
Science and Technology Abroad Programme:
Studies in science, engineering or technology will develop your technical skills, as well as give you an excellent grounding in your chosen specialism. However, equally importantly, by choosing to study science at a university abroad you will also improve your ability to develop analytical thinking, learn how to design and organise projects and work as part of an international team. These skills will stand you in good stead in your future career.
It has been predicted that jobs in science and technology will grow at twice the rate of other employment sectors, and certain fields – such as Computer coding, Geotechnical Design Engineering, Intelligence Consultancy, Robotics Engineering and Data Science – face a potential skills shortage and shortfall in graduates.
STEM subjects are becoming increasingly popular all over the world, as a result, and if you are interested in science and technology, now is an ideal time to take the first step towards building a fascinating career by applying to study science at university.
The Science and Technology programme comprises:
Complete a thorough diagnostic test designed to highlight strengths and interests and determine suitable career directions.
Mentor feedback will provide Elab with additional insights and information, and allow us to build up a detailed picture of your abilities and expectations
Receive a personalised report with feedback and recommendations from the assessment process based on findings and suggestions including:
– potential courses and universities
– profile, descriptions, comments and relevant statistics on selections.
Discuss findings with a Mentor and Consultant and make a final decision on the course you wish to study and the five universities you wish to apply to, based on our suggestions and your predicted grades;
Complete necessary documentation and submit a professional UCAS application with close support from an Elab Consultant (see below)
Science and Technology Abroad - Application Documentation
Once the assessment and diagnostic stage is complete the Consultant and applicant will start to work on the application documents, which vary from country to country and course to course, but normally include :
- A Personal Statement, demonstrating how your aptitudes and talents make you a suitable candidate for the course
- Reading lists and supplementary courses
- Predicted Grades
Where to study Science and technology abroad?
European Universities of Applied Sciences, commonly found in the Netherlands, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Austria, differ from traditional universities, in that they have a hands-on, practical approach to learning, as well as strong links with industry .
Theory is integrated with practice and brought to life through a range of projects and group work on concrete problems. The Universities of Applied Sciences will want to see the number of hours you have spent studying relevant courses at secondary school , rather than simply relying on final grades, when choosing between applicants.
Applications to the USA involve sitting the SAT, a standardised entrance exam, which is required by the majority of prestigious universities.
The UK does not differentiate between applications for science and technology and those for any other subject, but many individual universities supplement the UCAS documents and information with their own admissions tests in certain areas.
For example, Edinburgh requires candidates for engineering, biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics and physics to sit an admissions test, and Liverpool John Moore expects candidates who wish to study electrical, electronic, marine and mechanical engineering to take an entrance exam.
Whether you decide to study science and technology at a university in Europe, the UK or the USA, Elab will take you through entry requirements for individual universities, and guide you to choose the course which suits your interests and long-term career goals.
Where to study Science and Technology Abroad?
The success of each application will depend on a number of factors, most importantly how a candidate presents their experience, character and future plans. We will help you clarify, develop and expand each of these elements, in order to make your application striking and effective.
