I wonder why she said that? Why is he acting so irrationally? Nothing terrible has happened, so  why are they so violent/angry/depressed?

If these kinds of questions interest you, then why not study psychology, and get the answers!

This subject is the study of behaviour and the ways in which thoughts, emotions and interactions are shaped, and go on to influence how we, and animals, feel and act. In short, psychology examines how mental processes  determine behaviour , and can be broadly divided into applied psychology –  such as neurorehabilitation , and health and education – and scientific research, which concentrates on cognition, behavioural neuroscience and developmental psychology.

The four aims of psychology are to describe, explain, predict and control people’s behaviour and mental processes. This course is not a medical degree, although clinical psychologists, who study for 8-12 years, can and do treat mental illnesses. Psychology courses blend elements of science and the humanities, depending on which course modules you want to take. This fascinating subject will give you an insight into what drives groups and individuals to act in certain ways, how people relate to each other and how the human mind works. Unsurprisingly, psychology is one of the most popular university courses, all over the world.

This field is a relatively new. The first laboratory was set up as recently as 1879, by Wilhelm Wundt, and his findings have been expanded and evolved over the years. These days, you can focus on very different areas, such as industrial or organisational, child, forensic and sport psychology. You will conduct experiments, look at case studies and test theories on why we think  and act in particular ways.

Psychology degrees open the door to a wide range of jobs, depending on your choice of specialism. From PR to education, HR  to marketing, the opportunities are varied and expanding.

Join Elab and take part in our webinar.  We are here to answer all your questions and guide you to choose the right course at the best universities.  The world needs more psychologists!
