Studying abroad programmes - What is the best study abroad program?

Studying abroad – where to apply? How to choose the right study abroad destination?
Whilst the UK has historically been the destination of choice, and will remain very popular, students are looking to study more often within the EU. To cater for this, more and more EU universities are offering courses in English.

The Netherlands’ universities are very popular with students interested in Business or IT.

Denmark offers free tuition and is a great place to enjoy some Danish hygge however, university places offering English courses are limited.

Ireland has a range of universities offering a top-quality education and many universities are set in friendly towns promising good old Irish craic between studies.

Some UK universities have set up in Europe. Lancaster Leipzig offers a highly ranked UK education at the old EU tuition rates, whilst living in Germany.

Coventry University has set up a campus in Poland. Both offer the chance to study in the UK during the three year program.

What does a free application with Elab include?

Stage 1 - Preparing your Application

Studying abroad – Step by Step Process: We will allocate you a personal Elab Consultant to look after you and set up a meeting to begin the application process. Since the process is deadline driven, and there are a number of documents to gather, it is important to start the process early and keep things moving to ensure applications are submitted on time and avoid last minute issues. The Consultant-student relationship must be as efficient as possible.

Depending on the university requirements Elab will help with:

  • reviewing your High School subjects and discussing the courses you should consider studying, and where you want to apply
  • providing you with a report on appropriate courses and the universities which best suit your aspirations and interests. The report will include the course entrance requirements at High School level and the local equivalent
  • gathering proof of your academic record and projected final grades if required.
  • helping you start the formal application process by gathering documents, setting up accounts in an centralised or local systems such as UCAS or OPTAGELSE or contacting the universities directly
  • assisting with writing your Personal Statement, which is a key part of the application process. You may also need to get one or more references, usually from a high school teacher
  • providing you with information on student loans, grants and scholarships
  • providing details of key deadlines and the need for an interview or not
  • providing you with information on accommodation, visa issues and any other questions you may have

Stage 2 - Submitting your Application

Applications must be complete and accurate to maximise your chances of receiving an offer.
Elab helps by:

  • checking your application documentation before submission
  • checking your application documentation before submission
  • reviewing, discussing and responding to the offers you receive whether conditional on your final school results, or unconditional and the final results of no importance

Stage 3 - Accepting and Finalising your Application

  • Elab will continue to monitor your application to completion. Final results may need to be sent to the university or entered in the central application system and offers accepted
  • If you have not achieved the expected grades, your consultant will run you through your options – for example the UK has a centralised UCAS Clearing process in the summer which provides information on other available places to consider
  • Your Elab Consultant will provide you with practical information on applying for a place in halls of residence or finding other accommodation, providing information on local costs, how to open a bank account, etc. Just ask us
