I have been thinking about going to a university abroad for a couple of years. I have always loved to travel, discover new places and meet new people. I started learning English very early in my childhood and one summer me and my whole family went to London for summer holidays. This made me realise that I would love to study in that city. But in the end, the most important reason for me choosing a university in England was a very limited number of fashion courses offered at Polish universities. London schools are more prestigious and have a lot more to offer in this area.
I started thinking about the application process quite early but I didn’t know what to start with, and what exactly I would have to do. I found out about Elab and their help from a magazine article about an education festival. It was the moment I realised that it would be fantastic to have someone who is competent and knows the process of application to universities abroad help me go through it all. I visited their website and made an appointment with an education consultant.
Thanks to Elab the application process was surprisingly pleasant and not as stressful. I felt nervous about choosing the courses and universities (as you can only choose five), and then the waiting for offers to come. I was lucky enough that I didn’t have to go to any interviews, I got my offers based on my Personal Statement and References.
Elab provided me with comprehensive support in the entire application process. At the beginning, I didn’t even know which course I actually wanted to study. I knew my future would be connected with the fashion industry but that is a way too general statement to decide about university course. Elab offered me diagnostic tests and coaching sessions with a professional career adviser. This helped me identify my strengths and confirm the choice of fashion management as the best course for me. It combines my passion for fashion with foundations of business management. The consultants helped me prepare my application documents as best as I could. Later, they assisted in creating my UCAS profile, registering with the university, applying for the student loan and student housing. This allowed me to focus on studying for my exams.
The very decision to study in England wasn’t too difficult for me. What I found stressful was that everything there would be new, and that I would have to make new friends in a new place. At first I missed my home and family. I like to have everything under control and the move made it impossible to control everything.
Though it wasn’t long when I felt at home in London. I immediately fell in love with the city and my university’s campus located in the very city centre. The atmosphere was great and the people amazing. During the first few days at uni I took part in a game which required new students to go around London and take selfies in various places. It was a great opportunity to make new friends and get to know the campus and the city better. When the lectures finally started, I knew that it was the perfect place for me. I knew that I finally learning things I loved . I am over the moon about the fact that Elab is a part of my history with studying abroad. They not only helped me apply to the courses, but also choose them, for which I am forever grateful. I am now a student of a university that I love and am working towards making my dreams come true.
